Thomas A. Blackwell
Thomas A. Blackwell, 79, of
Stuttgart passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, at
Chambers Nursing Home in
Carlisle.
Mr. Blackwell was born July
20, 1938, in Stuttgart to B.W. and Maud Goetz
Blackwell. He was a Stuttgart
High School graduate and mechanic and retired
from Joe Morgan as service
manager. He was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church.
Besides is parents, he was
preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Blackwell;
and a sister, Jerri Brewer.
Survivors are his wife of 60
years, Shirley Maier Blackwell; two sons, Tim
(Beth) Blackwell of Cordova,
Tenn., and Andy (Valerie) Blackwell of Almyra;
one brother, John T. (Martha)
Blackwell of San Antonia, Texas; four
grandchildren, Tiphani Wood, Cody Blackwell, Natalie Blackwell and
Kathleen
Blackwell; and four
great-grandchildren.
He and Shirley were active members of the Good Sam
Mallard Chapter for many years.
They held the position of Area
4 directors and Tommy was elected as
Good Sam State Director
(2010-2013). For several years, Tommy
coordinated the escorts for
the Torch Runners for the annual
Arkansas Special Olympics Summer Games as well as
volunteering at the three-day event.
A memorial service will be
10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church.
The family requests memorials
be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or
Special Olympics.
