Died: March 19, 2019

 

Ora Ann Cowan, age 77, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday,

March 19, 2019 at her home. She was born March 10, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri,

the daughter of Chester O. and Rella A. (Grey) Hiatt.

 

Ora received her Bachelor of Home Economics from Kansas State University in 1965 and later obtained

 her Masters of Foods and Nutrition from Kansas State University in 1979. She was a military wife and mom from 1965-1985.

She was a dietician at several institutions including Kansas State University Athletics, USD 383 School District,

McAlester Regional Health Care Center in Oklahoma, Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville, Northwest Medical Center

 in Springdale and Bates Hospital in Bentonville.

 

She was active in several volunteer organizations including Life Ministries in Prairie Grove,

crocheted afghans for veterans with the Jolly Rogers Camping Group, taught food education through

New Heights Church and gave individual diet counseling with focus on diabetes.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, retired Captain Marion Cowan;

two daughters Cindy Fowler of Manhattan, Kansas, and Suzanne Cowan of Prairie Grove, Arkansas;

 one son Brian Cowan and wife Becky of Summerville, South Carolina; five grandchildren Aimee, Chelsea,

Kenneth, Cassandra and Brandon; five great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Rylee, McKenna, Peyton and Sawyer.

 

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23rd, 2019, at Luginbuel Chapel in

Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
