Merle Gordon Mennenga
September 12, 1944 - September 29, 2017


Merle Gordon Mennenga, age 73, of Blue Eye, Missouri, passed away Friday,
September 29, 2017 at his home. He was born September 12, 1944 in
Freeport, Illinois, the son of James and Iva Mennenga. Merle was joined in
marriage November 24, 1976, to Helen Tillett in Pecatonica, Illinois.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Merle was a partner in S.A.M. Builders of Forreston/Shannon, Illinois, for
25 years. He built the home where he and Helen raised their children in
Forreston. After retirement, Merle and Helen moved to the Branson area
where he was the owner of M.G.M. Builders and SunRooms 4-U. Merle was a
Deacon and head of grounds and maintenance at Pines Community Christian
Church in Blue Eye, Missouri.

He enjoyed attending his children’s sports activities. Merle traveled the
country watching his son, Randy race the A.M.A motorcycle circuit for
several years. Since 1980, He loved camping and was a member of the Good
Sam Club, AR Roadrunners, NDNDCC and Park Hosted at Bull Shoals State
Park in Arkansas for 15 years. Most of all, his three-year-old
granddaughter was the joy of his heart. Merle will be missed by all who
knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Roger Klinefelter,
a niece, Beth Miller, and his mother-in-law Emily Tillett.

Merle is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Mennenga of the home; a
son, Randall Mennenga of Murrieta, California; a daughter, Jennifer
Mennega, and granddaughter, Skyye Mennenga, both of Freeport, Illinois;
two sisters, Eunice Miller and husband Norman of German Valley, Illinois,
Diane Klinefelter of Shannon, Illinois; a brother, Wayne Mennenga and Wife
Jean of Pecatonica, Illinois; and his father-in-law, Jesse Tillett of Blue Eye,
Missouri.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at
Pines Community Christian Church in Blue Eye, with Pastor Pat McDonnell
officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Merle
may be made to the church building fund.
