Kenneth
Loyd Dixon, 91, of Magnolia passed away Tuesday,
September 3, 2024
at
Wentworth Place Griffin House in Magnolia.
He
was born August 20, 1933 in Waterloo, AR to the late William Loyd and Myrl
Lee
(Bailey) Dixon. He was operations process
coordinator, retiring from the
Ethyl
Corporation after 26 years.
Kenneth
was an active and faithful member of the Antioch East Baptist Church.
His ministry in music began early in life,
first serving as the song director at
Mount
Olive Baptist Church in Nevada County, and then at the Antioch East
Baptist
Church for about 35 years. Even after
becoming a resident at
Dudneywood
Assisted Living Center, Kenneth continued to lead and serve in
their
music ministry during his entire time there.
He
was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his
wife,
Marilyn and family. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of
the
Masonic Lodges in Rosston, McNeil and Magnolia.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Gunnels)
Dixon;
and grandson, Robert Kenneth Dixon.
Kenneth
is survived by his two sons, Steve Dixon and wife Cindy of Waldo and
Mark
Dixon and wife Lisa of Bullard, TX; grandchildren, Ashley Talley and
husband
Daniel and James Dixon and wife Ashton of Waldo, Claire Dixon and
fiance
Avery Watson of Tyler, TX, John Dixon and wife Lyndsey of Huntsville, AL;
great-grandchildren,
Dixon Talley, Denton Talley and Rory Dixon; and a host of
extended
family and friends.
A
visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Lewis
Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral
services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 6 at the Antioch East Baptist
Church
with Bro. Ron Owen officiating with burial following at the Antioch East
Cemetery.
Pallbearers
will be James Dixon, John Dixon, Dixon Talley, Daniel Talley, Neil
Frazier, Joe DeLoach
and Ricky Hutcheson.
Memorial
donations may be made to the Robert Dixon Kind Heart Foundation in
honor
of Kenneth's grandson who shared both his name and his nature. RDKHF
honors
the life and legacy of Robert K. Dixon through charitable giving and
philanthropy
with special emphasis on spreading the good news of the Gospel.
