Judy (Phillips) McDowell, of Ward, AR, formerly of Topeka, passed away June 13, 2012.
Judy was born December 7, 1936, near Stanbury, MO, daughter of D.H. and Ruth Phillips.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1954. Judy married Erskine McDowell in 1956
and was a devoted stay at home mother and housewife. She was a member of Topeka
Eastern Star, Helena Chapter No. 210, and active in her sons’ school functions and activities.
Along with her mother, Ruth, Topeka, and husband, Erskine, Ward, AR, she is survived by a
brother, DeVern (Becky) Phillips, Auburn, sons, Kevin (Ann) McDowell, Topeka, and Craig
(Julie) McDowell, Rossville, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, D.H., and a brother, Jerry.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town
Chapel, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Judy will lie in
state after 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 18th, at the funeral home, where the family will receive
friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Cancer Society, American
Diabetes Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Though She's gone, She is not forgotten.
Though absent, She remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, She now rest.
