Jerome Harvey Hamner,
91, of Little Rock died April 23 after a brief illness. He was born September
2, 1927 in Little Rock
and lived most of his life in the city.
He was a retired officer of the Union Pacific-Missouri Pacific Railroad
graduated from Little Rock High School in 1946
and attended LR Junior College, LRU and UALR.
He was a United Methodist and a Mason.
Jerry was preceded in death by his
parents, Harry H. and Zetta Foster Hamner; wife of 64 years Kathryn Roady
Hamner;
his brother, George Reeves (Velma); and a
daughter, Susan Hamner Ruple.
He is survived by son, Harry J. Hamner
of Little Rock (Rebecca); son, William
H. Hamner of Little Rock; granddaughters, April Hamner Hicks (Jacob) of Okinawa
and Leah M. Hamner
of Central Arkansas; grandsons, Jack D. Ruple Jr. and
John D. Ruple & spouse of Conway, Ark.;
great-grandchildren,
Samantha Hicks and Austin Hicks of Okinawa; and numerous cousins.
A graveside service and visitation
will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at Oakland Cemetery
in Little Rock with
the Rev. Dr. Jeff Hampton officiating. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Though He's gone, He is not forgotten.
Though absent, He remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, He now rest.
