Doris Laverne Byerly Lathrop was born October 27, 1935, in Little
Garnett,
Arkansas, to Fred W. and
Nettie Harrison Carrington.She
was a graduate of
Star City High School. She began working at Levi Strauss in Redfield
and
worked as a supervisor until their closing.
Afterwards, she started working for the
Arkansas Department of Corrections as a
supervisor in the uniform department
until her retirement
in 1988. Doris was a member of Center Fork Baptist Church
in Hot Springs.
She loved to travel and never met a
stranger.She loved everyone, and
everyone she met
loved her in return. Doris was truly a friend to all.
She passed away on Thursday, October
27, 2022, in Hot Springs at the age of
87. She was preceded in death by her first
husband, George Byerly and a son,
George "Eddie" Byerly, Jr.
Doris is survived by her husband,
James Lathrop, who described her as "God's
best creation" and
the one who saved his life; her son, Michael Byerly
of Pine
Bluff; her stepson, James Lathrop, III of
Spanaway, WA; 9 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 P.M.
Friday, November 4, 2022, at Ralph
Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff
Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022, in the
Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Bro.
Josh Stacey officiating.Burial will
follow in Holly
Springs Cemetery near Star City.
Though She's gone, She is not forgotten.
Though absent, She remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, She now rests.
