Donald Hugh Jones
July 2, 1938 – February 25, 2019
Donald Hugh Jones, 80, of Van Buren passed away
Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at his home.
He was retired after serving 39 years in the Arkansas National
Guard in Fort Smith
and had a small engine
repair shop for 25 years. He was a 1957 graduate of Fort Smith High School.
He was a member of Belle Pointe Sam's Camping
Club and Flight Masters R.C. Club,
both of Fort Smith. He was a member First United Methodist Church and
the
Uplifters
Sunday school class.
He was preceded in
death by his wife of 52 years, Frances (Ree) Jones;
and both parents, Cylde and Alma (Edwards)
Jones.
He is survived by
two sons, Jim Jones and wife Christy and Timothy Jones and wife Karen,
all of
Van Buren; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Wilson and Dylan Jones, both of Van
Buren;
three
great-grandchildren, Chloe and Coltyn Wilson and Luke
Jones, all of Van Buren;
one stepgrandson,
Gary Perkins; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Alli and Garett Perkins
of Hackett; and a special
friend and travel companion, Judy King of Branson, Mo.
Family will visit
with relatives 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Ocker
Funeral Home,
700 Jefferson St., Van Buren. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2019, at
Ocker
Memorial Chapel in
Van Buren with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith
with full military honors,
under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van
Buren.
Pallbearers will be
Larry Scheers, Phillip Brickey,
Jim Atchison,
Richard Lang, Danny Brewer, Bill Stamps and Otis
Edwards.
Honorary
pallbearers are members of Fort Smith Air National Guard.
Though He's gone, He is not forgotten.
Though absent, He remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, He now rest.
