Donald Edward Abbott, 91, of Coal Hill died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in Coal Hill.
Don was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was a retired tractor-trailer driver
and a farmer. He was a World War II veteran of the Marines and a member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altus, Knights of Columbus, Marine Corps League in
California and the Coal Hill Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the widower of Grace Abbott.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altus with burial at
St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.

He is survived by five sons, Richard and Robert Abbott, both of Altus, Ronald Abbott
of Cabot, Michael Abbott of Coalinga, Calif., and Dennis Abbott of Mt. Vernon, Ky.;
a sister, Doreene Kennedy of Conway;
13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Don & Grace Abbott were long time member of Belle Point Sam Chapter which was
started August 1979. Don was President from 1979 to 1982, Wagon Master 1995 & 1996
and Chaplain 2000. Grace was Historian 1984-1985, 1993-1995 & 1999, Secretary 1997.

Rosary was 6-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with visitation from 6:30-8 p.m.



Though He's gone, He is not forgotten.
Though absent, He remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, He now rest.
