5, 1943 - November 30, 2023
Darrell Genereux, 80, entered into rest on Thursday, November 30,
2023, at Park
Villa in Clyde, KS. He was born on August 5, 1943, in
Concordia, KS to Arthur &
Vivian L. (Caywood) Genereux. Darrell
graduated from Agenda High School. He
married Bernita Glenn in 1965, Audrey Rickley in 1971, both preceding him in
death in 1970 and 2017 respectively. He married
Marie Hopson in 2018. He held
degrees from Kansas State Teachers College and
Kansas State University.
Darrell was
a lifelong educator serving in many school districts including
Concordia, Marysville, and Cuba. Throughout
his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing,
camping and spending time with his family and
friends. After retirement he found
more time to travel and was very active in the
Serendipity Sams camping group.
Survivors
include his wife, Marie, Dardanelle, AR; his five children, Bill Genereux
(Wendy),
Clyde, Melinda Schowengerdt (Tim), Hutchinson, Becky
Gomez,
Indianapolis,
IN, Aaron Genereux (Raven), Wichita, Sara LeClair
(Travis), Clyde;
sisters, Audrey Mayer, Concordia & Charlotte
Ralston (Mike), Lincoln, NE;
brothers, Larry Genereux
(Jane), Gardendale, TX & Curt Genereux (Heriberta),
Concordia,
sisters in law, Barb Genereux, Concordia and Sharon Elsasser
(Vernon), Touchet, WA; 14 grandchildren, Hanna Schowengerdt,
Chicago, IL and
Andrew Schowengerdt, Lawrence, Emily Genereux,
Manhattan and Thomas
Genereux, Clyde, Adam and Brandon Gomez,
Indianapolis, IN, Owen Genereux,
Manhattan,
Isaac, Ben and Hadley Genereux, Wichita, Seth
LeClair, El Dorado,
Noah, Ryan and Luke LeClair, Clyde; his step- children James
Brown, Jr.
(Leanna),
Elizabeth Surprenant (Paul), Robbi
Withouse (Josh) and Bobby Brown
(Liza and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his first two wives, his parents, his brother Gene
Genereux and brother-in-law, Cleo Mayer.
Visitation
will be from 1-6 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2023. A vigil service with
Rosary will
begin at 6 PM with the family greeting friends afterwards until 8, all at
Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas. Mass of
Christian Burial will be
held 10:00 AM, Monday, December 4, 2023 at Our
Lady of Perpetual Help
Catholic
Church, Concordia, with Fr. Joseph Kieffer
officiating.Burial will follow
in the St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia.
In lieu of
flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be
given to St.
Concordia Cemetery Fund c/o Chaput-Buoy
Funeral Home. For online
