November 27, 1944 - September 22,2022


Arnold (Arnie) Wayne Smith, 77, formerly of Rogers,

Arkansas, passed away at his home in Britt, Iowa on

September 22, 2022.


Arnie was born on November 27, 1944 to Evelyn and Calvin

Smith. He graduated Britt High School in 1962.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Paulette who he

married in 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Other

immediate family includes 3 adult children, a daughter-in-

law, 3 granddaughters, two grandsons-in-law, a great

granddaughter and a great grandson as well as many other

family members and friends.


Arnie moved from Iowa to Arkansas in 1972 where he

worked for Service Electric. In 1975 he bought that business

and served the Rogers area for 34 years. He became a

lifetime member of Optimist International in 1989. Through

the years he was a member of several community, school

and recreational groups. The latest of these being Good

Sams, an RV Club. He and Paulette were full-time RVers for

more than 10 years and held various positions on the

Arkansas State Good Sam staff.


In 2014 he and Paulette began volunteering at the Hancock

County Fairgrounds.; In the beginning they spent only

summer months in Britt choosing to travel south as the

winter weather set in. Some years they park hosted for the

Texas State Parks and other winters they spent in the Texas

valley with a special group of friends. The Fair Board chose

to honor Arnie as the 2021 Volunteer of the Year, which he

accepted with pride having loved every minute of time spent

there.


Arnie was a kind and generous man with an unfailing love for

life. He touched many people throughout his life, and his

love and friendship will be missed by all.
